Do I need a table saw if I have a circular saw?
Ok, maybe you already have a circular saw, and you are wondering whether it is necessary to invest in a table saw.
The advantage of a circular saw is that it is smaller and easier to store. This will come in handy if you have a very small space to do woodworking. That is why i described the circular saw as one of the table saw alternatives in this article.
However, the saws in this blog are very compact, so they can compete on that point.
With a circular saw, you can perfectly cut large sheets of plywood, just like with a saw table.
So if you compare a circular saw and a table saw, you will notice that you can do about the same with a circular saw as with a table saw.
However, the difference between the circular saw and the table saw is and the accuracy and speed with which you can work.
With a woodworking table saw you can work very accurately, saw at an angle, or make repetitive cuts very quickly once the fence has been set. Smaller pieces can also be cut more easily with a table saw. So you can use a circular saw instead of a table saw, but remember that there will be limitations.
If you have the possibility to invest in a table saw, I can encourage you to do so, talking from my own experience.
I have not regretted it for a single minute. In fact, by purchasing mine, I have greatly increased the possibilities in woodworking.
What you need to know once you bought a table saw
Just buying the best table saw still doesn’t guarantee perfect cuts.
Most table saws in this table saw buying guide come with a table saw blade, but this is more of a standard saw blade.
If you want the perfect cut, you will need to use custom saw blades.
To understand what saw blades are out there and which blade is best for your needs, see the article Understanding saw blades | always find the right one.
